IT IS BACK BIGGER AND BETTER FOR MOMBASA RESIDENTS
After the long push and pull between the Kenya ports authority and the kenyan government finally the port has been returned to to Mombasa from Naivasha inland port.

The port had been moved to Naivasha so as to help generate money so as to pay the standard gauge railway loan. This move however had both the positive impacts and negative impacts. The move not only did it reduce the congestion on the Nairobi -Mombasa highway,it also helped reduce the accidents that were daily increasing. On the other hand, many people were also left jobless eg the truck drivers as their jobs were taken over by the railway transportation.
When the port was moved to Naivasha, many Mombasa residents were rendered jobless. The port and the coastal beach are one of the main sources of employment to Mombasa residents. The port has workers ranging from professional to skilled labourers. The decision to move it left many youths UN employed and this increased the crime rate in Mombasa.

The incoming government however decided to reverse the move and bring back the port to Mombasa. This was among their manifesto during the campaign period. Mombasa residents were happy because some of them had lost thei jobs and this now assured them that they re going to be employed.
But the move also ought to be questioned.questions that should arise include what criteria will the port authority use to re employ the people who had been earlier sacked? What about the Naivasha people who had already started earning from the port how are they going to be compensated? How will the standard gauge railway loan be paid?
Good one master 👌
